0211: /rt/bluejays

Games on, lets chat.

When the game is on many people use their phone as a second screen to see what people are talking about.  There are plenty of hashtags to follow but the discussions are usually nationwide and often a complete mess to try and follow.  Every time a big play happens, the noise online is only rivaled by the noise at the stadium.

But on the local web, its a more friendly and less chaotic experience. During the game Blue Jays fans hope onto to localweb.is/rt/bluejays to discuss the action in real time.  The /rt/ in the URL changes the slash so its not threaded and more like a chat room.  The messages also expire after 30 minutes.

The best part about /rt/bluejays is that you are talking to the people around you, within 2 miles.  These are folks you could actually watch the game at a bar with if you didn’t have to get up at 7 am the next morning.  Around Toronto it’s easy to find Jays fans, but if you are in Chicago and a Jays fan, where do you go to experience the game with other Jays fans?  The local web and /rt/bluejays.

We are building the local web and sharing a new way to use it each day.
