You’re bored, I’m bored, let’s be bored together.
If there is an emotional engine to the Internet, it’s surely powered by loneliness. The most powerful alternative fuel would be boredom. With a phone in our pocket and the right muscle memory, our tolerance for boredom can be measured in nanoseconds. On the toilet, bored. In line, bored. Reading this tumblr, bored.
So let’s be bored together. Just go to localweb.is/bored to find other people who are just as bored as you within a few blocks. You never know what you might find there.
There are entire social networks build around boredom. YikYak is one where the sole purpose is to fill small amounts of time. Now this can become just another one of the thousand uses for the local web. You might even see some familiar faces in /bored from other slashes around the local web. This way you can start to build deeper relationships with your fellow apathetic kin. That could be interesting, and indeed, may be a first step to being… unbored.
We are building the local web and sharing a new way to use it each day.
