SeaWorld has had a rough few years in the press.  If you drive into any of the three SeaWorlds in the US you can expect to see protesters with signs that read “Orcas are dying to entertain you.”  It takes a lot of commitment to be out there on the sidewalk breathing in exhaust fumes day in and day out.

Another way to protest is to be active on localweb.is/boycott-seaworld, which acts as both an information outlet and a channel for protesters to organize.  If you are outside of San Antonio, /boycott-seaworld might not be that active, because it only pulls posts from those around you, but in San Antonio it’s constantly at the top of localweb.is, an index of popular and trending topics. This makes their cause much more visible than simply standing on the sidewalk with a sign.  In fact, it’s hard to be a resident of San Antonio and use the local web without being constantly reminded of how much SeaWorld sucks.  This is the protesters plan and it’s working.

We are building the local web and sharing a new way to use it each day.
