0151:  /u/women-in-the-room

Back-channel communication             for your gender

Much has been written about the lack of women in tech.  The lack of diversity is clear at conferences with the sea of male faces on obvious display.  It’s no fun to feel outnumbered, but that doesn’t mean you need to feel alone.

At conferences, events or really anywhere, women can visit localweb.is/u/women-in-the-room and talk about what they are really feeling with other women… who are actually in the room.  If you set your filter at 100 yards, you are only picking up on interactions from those around you in the same conference hall.

Your persona in the URL can be anonymous or pseudonymous so you can actually be yourself, and the /u/ means the URL is unlisted so the only way to know about it is if someone tells you, likely, another woman.

We are building the local web and sharing a new way to use it each day.
