Fact checking at the scene

When something unexpected happens, first responders, journalists and citizens all scramble to react.  While the World Wide Web can be helpful there is also a need for information sharing that’s specifically by location.

/breakingnews is a way citizens could quickly let each other know what’s happening in the building or down the block.  As journalists and first responders arrive on the scene of an emergency, they could check the information there to inform their next steps.  Because /breakingnews is moderated by the people in that location, they could easily filter out the noise from elsewhere and set the purpose to be fact checking and sharing what’s happening on the ground.

We are building the local web and sharing a new way to use it each day.
