Dialogue to foster trust, on all sides

With police shootings in the U.S. creating an intense environment, there’s a need for open, honest and direct dialogue between police departments and the citizens they serve.  Oftentimes the solution is to get people to sit down at the same table and have a conversation.  /ask-a-cop is one way to do that.  Citizens can ask questions of the police that work in their communities, and police can answer and provide context for how they do their job.  Some conversations will be difficult and some easy, but having an honest way to communicate directly (in the style of beat cops that used to walk neighborhoods) can improve relations and ease tension.
