Local comments on web pages

The Star Tribune or as locals say, “the Strib”, is an excellent paper in Minneapolis with a daily circulation of 322k.  They also post their content online where anyone can leave comments.   In this example they have opted to embed a localweb.is URL-specific for each story. When you post a comment on this URL about this record breaking Jack pine cut down to make room for the highway, the comment will only be visible to those in your area, as will their comments.

Curious as to what your neighbors feel about story?  Now you can find out.  The Strib also benefits because when numerous comments are made, the URL will rise to the top in localweb.is and the Strib can get more exposure among the people that matter to them (and their advertisers) — those in Minneapolis.

We are building the local web and sharing a new way to use it each day
